Your menu bar,
folded away.

Foldaway hides the menu bar icons you don't need right now and keeps them one click below the bar — sorted into your own groups, showing their real menu bar glyphs, opening their real menus right where you click.

Before — every app you've ever installed, all the time.

After — the ones you keep, plus one small chevron.

One click down. Everything's there.

Click the chevron and a panel drops down with everything you folded away — under headings you name yourself. Click any icon and its real menu opens right there. The icon never has to reappear in the bar, so nothing shifts, flashes, or shuffles.

Built around one rule: nothing moves.

Menu bar managers usually shuffle icons around to work. Foldaway doesn't. Hidden icons stay exactly where they are — it opens their menus without ever bringing them back.

No shuffling, ever

Icons never jump, reorder, or flash across the bar. Your cursor never moves on its own. The bar you arranged is the bar you keep.

Groups you name

AI, Drive, System, Work — sort hidden icons under your own headings and find them at a glance.

Real glyphs, pixel-sharp

The panel shows each app's actual menu bar icon at its actual size — or the colorful app icon, if you prefer.

Instant menus

Click an icon in the panel and its real menu opens right under your click, in about a third of a second.

New apps auto-hide

When a registered app relaunches, its icon is folded away again before you notice it.

Signed, notarized, updated

Every build is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, with automatic updates built in.

FAQ

How is this different from Bartender or Ice?

Same job, different mechanics. Other managers temporarily bring hidden icons back into the bar to use them, which shifts and flashes the icons around. Foldaway opens each app's real menu from the panel without the icon ever reappearing — so the bar never moves, and your icon order can't get scrambled.

What permissions does it need?

Accessibility (to find and fold menu bar icons — required) and Screen Recording (only if you want the panel to show real menu bar glyphs — optional). Nothing leaves your Mac; Foldaway makes no network requests except checking for updates.

Can it hide Apple's own icons like Wi-Fi and battery?

macOS reserves those for the system. Foldaway gives you a one-click shortcut to the exact System Settings pane where Apple lets you manage them.

Which Macs does it run on?

macOS 15 Sequoia and later, Apple Silicon and Intel. Notch or no notch.

What happens when the trial ends?

Only the hiding stops — your settings, groups and everything else stay put. Enter a license key and it all comes back instantly. Activation works offline.
